On coming home

In spite of all the bad economic news and the problems on Wall Street, Franklin Synergy Bank continues to grow and fulfill our commitment to building Williamson County’s strongest bank.

We proudly announce that long-time bankers and friends Jody Bowman and Jere Pewitt are joining our team at Franklin Synergy Bank. Both will be Executive Vice Presidents, reflecting their roles as senior partners. Jody and Jere have been successful bankers in Franklin for 25 years; they bring not only a wealth of experience but a well-deserved reputation as the “banker of choice” of many people within our community.

Jody and Jere both began their banking careers in Williamson County at Williamson County Bank. They moved to Franklin National Bank and then to Cumberland Bank when Franklin National Bank sold to Fifth Third. Both have deep roots in the community; their families go back generations in Williamson County. Jody and Jere will be located at the new Downtown Franklin branch but until that branch opens, you can reach them at our Aspen Grove office in Cool Springs at (615) 236-BANK (2265).

We are moving forward with our new location in downtown Franklin. Our location will be the historic Bennett House at 134 Fourth Avenue North, across from the Fourth Avenue Church of Christ. We plan to open in late October, with the Grand Opening scheduled for mid-November. We’ll keep you informed of the exact dates and opening celebration details.

Our growth and progress are nothing short of spectacular! It sometimes is difficult to remember that we are less than one year old. In September, total customer deposits exceeded $100 million, reaching as high as $105 million. Total bank assets exceeded $130 million during the month.

I’m often asked why Franklin Synergy Bank has been so successful. Certainly, our success is due to a combination of many factors, but most important among them have been the strength of our banking team and the support of our Board of Directors, our shareholders, our Founders, and our customers.

One significant challenge for a new bank is to create instant credibility and trust. In November of last year, we asked our friends and family to become customers of Franklin Synergy Bank. Over the first three months of our operation, we had 250 friends and family members who believed in us enough to let us be their bank. These are our “Founders”, and we could not have succeeded without their patronage. To express our appreciation to the customers who placed their trust in us early, we will have an annual Founders Day celebration. Our first Founders Day will be Thursday, November 6, 2008, at our Cool Spring office on Aspen Grove Drive.

I cannot close without referencing the economic struggles of our country and community and its impact on our bank. Times are difficult, but in Williamson County, people are buying homes, contractors are building houses, and commerce is continuing. Franklin Synergy Bank has chosen not to take the easy route of withdrawing from banking activities. We believe in our community and its people, and we take seriously our role as a community lender and deposit gatherer. We ask that you give us the opportunity to discuss your personal and business banking needs; you won’t be disappointed.

Thank you for your continued support and patronage.

Richard Herrington
