Welcome to the Franklin Financial Network January 2010 eBulletin!

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year!  Let’s all hope that 2010 brings the return of economic prosperity to our local community and our nation.

In November, Franklin Synergy Bank celebrated its second full year.  As we reflect on the last two years, we are very proud of our progress and the accomplishments of our bank, in spite of difficult economic times.

Why have we been so successful in trying times?  The answer to that is easy: you, our customers.  Without the strong support of our customers, shareholders, and the community, we could not have achieved the success that makes Franklin Synergy stand out from other banks. Thank you.

We have grown in many ways.  In November 2007, we opened with one branch in Cool Springs.  In late 2008, we opened a second branch in downtown Franklin’s Bennett House and a mortgage office in Brentwood.  We are looking forward to moving into our new home office and downtown Franklin branch facility on Columbia Avenue; we hope to be there during the second quarter 2010.  In addition to new locations, we have strengthened our banking team with additional local, experienced bankers.

By the end of 2009, our bank’s loan portfolio had grown to $168 million and our deposits totaled $228 million.  For comparison purposes, these growth rates put us in the upper 10% of the 156 new banks chartered in the US in 2007.  Additionally, we originated in excess of $158 million in first mortgage home loans during 2009.  That total represents 651 new loans to local home buyers.

And, we earned a profit in 2009. But we don’t measure our success solely by financial results.  As the old television advertisement boasts, we want to measure our success one customer at the time.

I’m often asked, “What is the secret to the bank’s success?”  My answer revolves around two fundamentals.  First, we care for our customers.  We recognize that without our customers, we could not exist.  Our objective is to understand the customer’s need, find a customized solution, and attend to the customer’s unique needs.  This approach builds a long-term relationship.

The second fundamental is to build a strong, healthy, vibrant bank based on sound banking and business practices.  We cannot truly meet the needs of our customers if our attention is on solving bank problems instead of solving customer problems.  This is one of the reasons that we are providing for additional growth by raising new capital.

We are proud of our successes and accomplishments.  And we are thankful for the opportunities that you have given us to prove that we provide superior products and services.  Please call your Franklin Synergy banker (615-236-BANK) or visit our website (www.franklinsynergybank.com) to learn of new, innovative ways we can help you manage your financial life.  Thank you!

Please help us welcome Chuck Wells to the Franklin Synergy Bank family. Chuck has more than 13 years experience in mortgage origination and joins us from SunTrust Bank.

We're delighted to have Chuck with us. Expertise in mortgage lending has never been more critical than in a difficult time such as the current market. While some of the larger banks have cut back their mortgage lending, Franklin Synergy Bank is open for business.

Chuck is a Nashville native and a graduate of Battle Ground Academy in Franklin. He holds a B.S. in Real Estate Finance from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and is active in the community through the Franklin Lions Club and the South Nashville Exchange Club. In addition, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Exchange Club Family Center in Nashville and as President of the Maryland Way chapter of BNI (Business Networking International) in Brentwood.

Chuck is based at our Mortgage Office in the Synergy Office Park in Brentwood. You can reach Chuck at (615) 564-6336 or by email at chuck.wells@franklinsynergy.com.
